Vernier Contest: Contest to find the best way of using technology in education

Vernier Software & Technology is organizing a new contest to support engineering and technology education. But it’s going to be interesting because this contest is going to be organized for teachers not for the technology students. This software company will use their Vernier sensors with National Instruments LabVIEW software to identify the innovative uses of technology. One teacher from university and one teacher from college each will be awarded prizes of $5,500. The teacher who uses the technology to teach in a most innovative way will be awarded this prize.

Any interested educators can participate in this contest. Interested persons need to submit a written project summary with a video showing their own way to teach. They have to use Vernier sensors with NI LabVIEW software and make a live video of their innovative way using technology in teaching. The video and written paper must be submitted by 15th January, 2013.

Experts will take the submitted papers and after judging them the winner will be announced on Vernier’s website and Facebook page on 11th March. Both of the winners will receive $1,000 in cash, a $3,000 gift certificate for Vernier technology. And another $1,500 will be rewarded toward expenses to attend the 2013 American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) conference in Atlanta, Georgia.

LabVIEW software is one of the great platforms for the educators. It provides a very powerful way to perform engineering and STEM labs. The contest aims that the educators can showcase best practice uses of the technology and share those ideas with their peers while having the opportunity to win prizes that will further enrich their teaching.

Surely this contest will influence the use of technology in education and educators from all over the world can come up with their unique ideas and ways to use technology for the engineering and technology students.
